Opencaching.us (OCUS) is the official opencaching node for the United States, Canada and Mexico. OCUS is a free geocaching listing service and allows traditional, virtual, moving, webcam, dead drop, mp3, puzzle, guest book, event and multi caches. All cache listings are reviewed before going live and even though cross-listing is permitted, it is discouraged. We are NOT affiliated with opencaching.com (OCOM) in any way and OCOM is not part of the worldwide opencaching network. For a list of all official opencaching nodes, visit http://www.opencaching.eu/

You can now use Opencaching US on your Android phone for free! Just download the Columbus geocaching app from the market, hit search and select OCUS and start caching! You can log your finds by hitting the "web" option which takes you directly to the cache page. Ahh, paperless caching! https://market.android.com/details?id=geocaching.columbus

Need to link directly to your cache with a shortened URL? You can simply type http://coord.ch/OU021B with your waypoint ID at the end as shown. This works for OCUS and GroundSpeak listings.

We've added a new cache type, the Guest Book cache! The Guest Book cache is a cache that shows the location of an existing guest book (or you can create a new one). The guest book should be open to the public so visitors can sign it. To log the cache, the guest book should be signed then record it here! Visit the forums for more info.

OpenCaching is open source as well as open database; it makes no claim on intellectual property and places the emphasis on individual responsibility. Thereby it fosters innovation in a way that no other site can. For those who want the freedom and responsibility to shape our hobby in our own ways, OpenCaching offers great promise. (Roderick Parks)
