The Longleaf Trace is a 41-mile paved pedestrian, equestrian, rollerblade, and bicycle trail located between Hattiesburg and Prentiss, Mississippi. Constructed in 2000, the Trace follows a portion of the abandoned Mississippi Central Railroad line. It has 10 stations along its route (Prentiss, Ed Parkman Road, Carson, Bassfield, Lott Circle, Sumrall, Epley, Clyde Depot, Jackson Road, and Gateway at the University of Southern Mississippi).
The cache is located at a rest stop along the Trace about 1 3/4 miles from the Jackson Road Trailhead. The rest stop provides a platform that overlooks a swampy area that was pretty the day we hid the cache. We hope you enjoy your visit.
