Description EN

Join us at Black Rock Mountain State Park, Picnic Shelter Number 1, to celebrate and view the total eclipse of the sun (assuming clear skies) on August 21, 2017. The next one over the continental USA will be in 2024. There is a $5 fee to enter the State Park. The shelter is near the visitor center, overlooks, a playground, trails, etc. Please coordinate foods and beverages in Will-Attend logs.

Your safety is your responsibility, but I will have about 50 "official" eclipse 2017 Solar Viewing glasses for a nominal cost ($2 each).

This event may or not be cross-listed, depending how things go... There may be t-shirts. We'll be tent camping over the weekend, at the campground.

The long-term weather forecast is: Uncertain, with 100% chance of 156 seconds of total darkness mid-day.

Monday, August 21, 2017 from Noon to 3 PM or so. The picnic shelter is reserved all day.

Potluck Lunch: Starting around Noon
Partial Eclipse starts around 1 PM
Total Eclipse from about 2:35 to 2:38 PM.
Remember, CAUTION:

NEVER LOOK AT THE PARTIAL PHASES OF THE ECLIPSE WITHOUT PROPER EYE PROTECTION!
IT IS NEVER SAFE TO LOOK AT THE SUN WITHOUT PROTECTION AT ANY TIME WHEN ANY PART OF ITS BRIGHT DISK IS VISIBLE.
Your safety is your responsibility.
