Description EN

You build a skinny house, of course!

At only 12 feet wide, the house is 2,880 square feet with four floors, four bedrooms, and three-and-a-half bathrooms.

In 2003, a builder  purchased the lot on Barton Street and knocked down the small home there. He expected to build two bungalows in its place, but he needed a zoning variance. He wanted to stretch one of the homes five feet wider, from 12 feet to 17 feet.

Two houses down the street were built with the variance, so he didn’t anticipate a problem.

Then he met the neighbors, who were tired of seeing two houses packed in where one used to be.  So they had the Zoning Board block his request.

Instead of being stuck with an open piece of property, he decided to build the skinny house.

As of September 2009, the rent was $4600 / month.

There are plenty of places to park along the street, and even a small lot beside the house.

Of course, the house is private property, so don't mosey onto their property. You can stand on the sidewalk across the street and see everything.

To confirm your visit...

1) Please post a photo of yourself and/or GPS with the house in the background.

2) The Log Password is the ten digit phone number on the blue-white-red sign immediately to the right of the house. No spaces or dashes. As a checksum, if you add all the numbers together, you will get '27'.
