There is no water under the bridge here and perhaps no ...

Another in my series of Carpenter Road / Clarks Bridge Road Challenge

The bottom line: this place is haunted; it has real Blair Witch potential.  I've been here twice and both times I've been creeped out to the point of chills running up and down my spine with constant looking over my shoulder.  Don't go here if you don't like being scared.  Before you scoff at that consider this - I am a man in my early 50's.  My entire life I've been a hiker, camper, backpacker and global traveler.  I've pretty much gone wherever I want with no fear.  I comfortably camp in the North Maine Woods by myself and enjoy it.  But this place - There's something downright evil lurking here.  It really bugs me too because I can't identify it.  It's easy to think of a house as being haunted because houses and people go together.  But I suppose it's just as easy for a patch of woods to be haunted or to shelter some lurking malice.

I did see a couple drive in while I was here and they did not seem bothered - perhaps there is safety in a vehicle?  I walked and wanted to run.

Incidentally the pictures I took here had a weird washed out quality.  I actually wish I had not placed a BITCache here.  That means I will have to go back again to check on itFrown  I have uploaded one of the pictures, only look if you want the spoiler.  I want to be clear - this picture is NOT photoshopped - it's exacly as it came out.  My other pictures from other areas came out ok.

I am not making all this up to get you to go there.  It is a truly spooky place and if that bothers you DON'T GO HERE.

You can park anywhere on the Carpenter Road especially if you have a vehicle with good ground clearance, but I parked at N43 37.699, W70 45.574 and walked because I just have a regular car.  This area is also accessible from the Garland Hill Road and Clarks Bridge Road (from either direction but from Limerick you will need to cross the Little Ossippee River).  With a good 4 wheel drive vehicle with good ground clearance you can actually drive all the way to this spot.
