This is an interesting hunt that will not take long. Please abide
by cemetery rules and respect the area. Open daylight hours only.
The hunt is centered in the old, but well maintained Bloomfield
Cemetery. There are many interesting stories to tell here, but on
this hunt, you will only learn of two: Colonel Albert H Brown and a
mystery teacher whom you will discover on the hunt!
Colonel Brown began his service as the Lieutenant-Colonel (second in command) of the 96th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a Civil War Brigade composed of volunteer soldiers mainly from Morrow, Knox, and Delaware counties of Ohio. When Colonel Joseph Vance was killed in action at the Battle of Sabine Crossroads near Mansfield, Louisiana in 1864, Albert Brown became Colonel of the 96th OVI.
The 96th mustered out of Camp Delaware (see this cache: GC13JGZ) and served mainly in the later days of the conflict in the area of Louisiana and Alabama.
When you locate Colonel Brown's rather nondescript stone, face the stone and walk 25 paces straight forward to the stone of a teacher who had a very famous student. Use the dates on the plaque of the teacher's stone to find the cache:
