Description EN

Sag Harbor was and is a reader's delight. Home to many distiguished authors living and deceased, including John Steinbeck, Lanford Wilson, Ursula Hegi, Joe Pintauro and Nelson Algren, the Village was at one time also home to five book stores and a public library. Only the library and one of those five original bookstores remains. (A new bookstore also opened this year.) This cache can be found near the remaining bookshop.

This bookshop was opened in 1980, and contains an impressive collection of new and used books. In addition, it houses a "Cultural Cafe" which hosts art exhibits, readings, lectures, seminars and workshops. Access to the cache is on a paved, level surface. No bushwhacking is required.

This is one of six caches placed as part of the John Jermain Memorial Library's Sag Harbor Culture and History Geocache Hunt. Each cache is located near a site of cultural or historic significance  to Sag Harbor. Inside each cache is a rubber stamp and stamp pad (or self-inking stamp). Pick up a log sheet at the John Jermain Memorial library (201 Main Street, across from the Whaling Museum), and use the stamp to record your find. (There's also a traditional logbook in the cache for your use.) Be sure to return the stamp and pad to the cache when you're done. When you've logged all six library geocaches, bring your completely stamped log sheet to the library and receive a certificate of completion.
