Cache is a medium lock-n-lock container painted dark green.
Before Capt. Lewis travelled through this valley in 1806, it had been used for thousands of years before by Native people as a corridor between the Rocky Mountain region and the game-rich prairies of central Montana. The people followed the river and creeks below upstream until they crossed teh Contenintal Divide and dropped back down on the east slope towards the vast bison herds.
While the ancient trail is now only partially visible in certain locations, the entire area can be seen from this newly established overlook.
