Description EN
Welcome to the Red Hills! This is one of my favorite sections of the Black Creek Hiking Trail. It is one of the few hiking areas down here with some topography and my family loves it. The trail takes a few ups and downs, then follows along a ridge line where you can see the valleys on either side.

This is south Mississippi, so watch out for the usual critters (snakes, ticks, and such). Also, bring some water along. It's a short hike, but fairly strenuous, esp. in the summer. When you get to GZ, turn around and you will see why you are panting. The hide is not far from the trail so please recamo well to ensure it is not spotted by muggles.

For extra credit (and a cool down), there is a sand bar on Black Creek about 1 mile further down the trail from the hiding spot.

The strangest thing happened when I placed this cache. I was holding my GPS in the air, trying to get as close to the satellites as possible to get you guys a good position. Out of nowhere, a hawk, quick as lightning swooped down and grabbed the GPS out of my hand. It must have thought this was food. It landed in a treetop across the valley and proceeded to shred the fabric cover. It must have decided it did not like the taste because he dropped it and took off. Luckily, my dog was able to retrieve it from the woods. Good dog! It still works, I just needed a new cover.

Access the trail using Forest Road 318B and 318B1 (N 30° 55.400 W 088° 59.715).
