This is a Letterbox Hybrid Cache. A letterbox is another form oftreasure hunting
using clues instead of coordinates. Once a letterbox is found instead of signing
a log book, you place your stamp mark in the letterbox's log book and place the
letterbox's stamp into your own log book.
In some cases such as this, a
letterbox hybrid has coordinates, making it a letterbox and a geocache. You can
leave your stamp and get the cache's stamp in your own log book as in
letterboxing, or you can simply sign the log book as in geocaching.
This
cache is in the same location as the old WSU Tower (GC14TAV) Cache. It was
disabled as the owner was no longer able to maintain it and I thought it was
such a great spot so I'm hiding a new one, with a unique twist, in the same
area.
DO NOT DRIVE UP TO THE CACHE SITEWhile
there are no signs saying you cannot, we want to make sure we are not upsetting
any local officials by driving on what is obviously a rarely used service road.
Lets make sure geocachers have a good reputation in this small town.
I've
added a great parking area in the additional waypoints. It is a short, easy walk
on a well defined road/trail to the cache. This is the same parking area
recommended for the Round Top cache (GC1H2JJ), so go and get it too if you
haven't.
There is an amazing view of Pullman and the WSU campus from this
spot. Be sure to bring a camera and a jacket, it gets pretty windy up here.
