In 1979, a wonderful love story was filmed on Mackinac Island. The movie opened to poor reviews the following summer, but it gained a strong following after being shown on cable TV. Admirers of the movie formed a fan club shortly afterwords, and they began having an annual get-together on Mackinac Island in late October to celebrate their love for the movie. With funds raised from fans of the film, this plaque was built and placed in a special spot on Mackinac Island.
