The round house was built in the mid-70s as a prototype for a development that never happened. When the developer began to experience financial difficulties, the rest of the property was sold and developed as "A Place at the Beach".
It's been called the "Spaceship House" or the "Jetsons house" by locals due to its futuristic concrete form, which is intended to make the house hurricane proof.
Additional information on the house seemed to be hard to come by. If you have any additional information, please share.
LOG REQUIREMENTS:
1. Please post a photo of yourself and/or your GPS with the house visible and give your impressions of the location. Since this is private property, you'll mostly likely need to take you photo from the sidewalk, though pictures from the water (Main Creek) would earn extra bonus points.
2. In order to log a find, you need to have visited the spot indicated. That is, at least have been close enough to actually see the house and get pictures, not necessarily been at the posted coords.
I visit family in Surfside Beach most summers and have enjoyed caching in the area and thought this was a good way for me to place a cache in the area. I'd also like to thank donbadabon for allowing me to add to his Odd Spots series.
