Description   EN

The NRA’s National Firearms Museum is on the ground floor of the organization’s headquarters and it’s one of the world’s most outstanding private collections. Over two thousand rare and historic guns are on display. Each one is a direct connection to our history and our heritage.

You can see the beginnings of America’s firearms industry in one of Samuel Colt’s very first revolvers… a Holster Model Colt Paterson with a folding trigger, made around 1839. You’ll see one of the first rifles ever in America, the Mayflower gun that arrived with the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock in 1620.

Be careful, and do not lean on the glass cases. They are alarmed.

Open Daily 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
(Closed New Year's Day, Easter, Fouth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)

Admission is FREE.

Thank you.  My parents were NRA life time members.  It was fun. I will bring my boys to the museum again.

The NRA Museum was featured on tonight's "Only in America With Larry the Cable Guy" on History Channel (Episode 7).

This was an amazing find. I had no idea this was here and I even attended some classes next door in the ICIA building. Of course there's never enough time during a caching day to do it justice, but now I know it's here.

I even signed the log Wink for the musem of course. TFTC

2333.  I decided to take a little drive at lunch and come out to vistit the museum (and log the cache).

Cool While I may have missed out on the FTF opportunity, I am now the first OCUS cacher with 10 finds!  My first milestone on the site, I guess.

I definitely was not able to fully take in all the museum has to offer and will need to come back some day.  I did enjoy the exhibits, though, and would highly suggest visiting.

Thanks for bringing me here!

Made a special trip over to the museum this afternoon.  Its been awhile since I last visited and I was surprised to see how much it has improved.  Work is ongoing for another section too so soon there will be even more to see.  There are several exhibits that really draw my attention, but I the Hollywood and the law enforcement side-arms display exceed all the others.  The interactive kiosks are pretty cool too, almost information overload if you have a passion for firearms history.  Thanks for bringing me out here.  TFTC
