Description EN
Amtrak's Longview station is east of downtown, and is a former Texas & Pacific Railway passenger station.
(visit link)

The Longview station is purportedly the 4th busiest along the Texas Eagle route. Part of the reason is that it serves as a connecting point for motorcoach services to and from Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana, as well as Nacogdoches, Houston, and Galveston, Texas.

One can often observe buses parked adjacent to a play area on the west end of the station parking lot. Please do not park in the over-size spaces designated for use by the coaches.

The cache is located in the play and picnic area located right beside the entrance to the station parking lot. The play area features a climb-on locomotive along with a couple of other pieces of play equipment. Picnic tables are scattered about, and a number of Crepe Myrtle trees line the fence between the park area and the rail yard.

While you are here, see if you can see something odd about the Crepe Myrtle trees. It is pretty sad to see what irresponsibility does to living things. On the other hand, it is pretty neat to see that these trees heal so quickly.

The park area is well lit at night, with many of the Crepe Myrtles having accent lighting placed at their bases, but do please observe the posted park hours of 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Train enthusiasts are periodically seen about. The station is adjacent to a fairly busy switching yard.

The cache is an army green waterproof match container that contains only a log sheet. Bring your own pen or pencil.
