First of all gold has been found here. Now the rest of the story. When they were looking for a water resevior, they came across this aera of very hilly terrian. It is full of quarts and you can find gold where there is the white milky quarts. They finally decided to build the dam and it coverd up the entrance to the small mine if you look across from where this cache is located. So little gold was being found that the powers to be won: and the Sanford Resevior was born. This is the lower lake and now is used by our wonderful parks and recreation dept. If you have time, look at the inside of the old plant where they have a zoo now. Please take care of the cache for future Opencachers.
