This box is located off of the Overlook Circle south of the dam on Lake Somerville, just past the spillway. There are a couple of benches up there and it's a great place to sit and watch sunsets and look over the lake. There is no place to pull off the road to the west of the cache. Do not attempt to cross railway on the east of the cache. Stay on the trail.

From the posted coordinates, you should see a small clearing on the left of the trail. On the right, there will be a stone that looks about like a 2' cube. Past that, you will come to a large stump on the left that is about 15' tall. You will now be starting on letterbox-style clues.

13 steps and you will see a tree on the left of the trail that has a low branch that stretches to the right across the trail
78 steps to a cedar in the middle of the trail and the trail will curve to the left
100 steps to a large dead tree about 20' tall out in the open on the right of the trail with a branch that faces toward the trail
136 steps to a low crossing where water might run after a huge rainfall
110 steps to a right-hand bend in the trail where there are 3 cedars growing in a triangle just a foot or so apart at the right edge of the trail. The trail heads downward.
35 steps to a small clearing on the left. If you walk off the trail about 15 steps into the clearing, you will see a TINY creek about 1' across and you will be looking at a little bluff that is about 10' tall just on the other side of the stream.
Up on the bluff in front of you, you will see a broken, twisted tree in the middle of some small cedars. There is a big broken limb on the ground between the edge of the bluff and the tree. The box is hidden at the base of the broken off tree under large pieces of bark. You will have to step across the little stream and go up and around and behind the tree to get to it. It might be easier to go around to the right.

This area has interesting little outcroppings and lichen-covered flat rocks. If you continue down this trail, you will eventually come to a cemetery for the now-extinct community of Quarry. This trail is about 1 1/2 miles from the overlook to the cemetery if you decide to do the whole trail. This stamp is a little over 2" across and was carved by a previous member of the Brazos Valley Geocachers, Eastxcop, who did a good job with our logo. This was previously placed in Bryan, but the entire area is now part of construction for a new overpass and the hiding location has been demolished, so it was time to revive the stamp.
