Was in the area today kayaking and hiking and stopped in Barry's Bay for a snack and visit to the small memorial park.

Driving through to eastern Ontario and we (okay, I) decided to take the scenic route through Algonquin Park. Given that it was the first weekend after the reopening of backcountry camping I had expected to find the park bursting with people but it was actually very quiet along highway 60. At the east gate there was one group of 4 sitting around their vehicle but otherwise it was empty.

After passing through the park we arrived at Barry's Bay and stopped to see the monuments. It's a pretty neat piece of Canadian history. I was able to spend a couple days in the area between Barry's Bay and Killaloe and a bit of exploring in the area made it clear that there is a strong Polish pioneering history in the area.

Thanks simrebel for the virtual cache.

I was in Barry's Bay for the Canada Day weekend visiting my sister and her husband at Sunny Point (Bark Lake). I remember when I was very young there were these large noises (sonic booms) when we were living in Hamilton. Have always been fascinated by the Arrow and the stories and myths. Thank you very much for creating this virtual.
