Description

HiddenLewiston, Idaho, founded in 1861 amid a gold rush sparked by discoveries near Pierce, quickly grew from a tent camp on Nez Perce land into the state's oldest incorporated town and briefly served as the first capital of the Idaho Territory in 1863–64, before the seat moved to Boise. Situated at the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers—a site visited by Lewis and Clark in 1805–06—the city earned its name in honor of Meriwether Lewis and evolved into Idaho's only seaport, supporting agriculture, lumber, and manufacturing while preserving a rich historic downtown with sites like the Nez Perce County Historical Museum and landmarks tied to Native American and pioneer heritage.
Cache is hidden in some rocks at a historic welcome sign. Lots of traffic nearby so stealth will be required.
