Beschrijving EN

INTRODUCTION TO THIS SERIES:

This summer-themed series is part of a larger series covering all four seasons. You can find the other seasons on the OpenCaching website under the following titles: “Winter is Snow Joke,” “Spring It On,” and “FALLing into Place.” Each container visually aligns with the theme and includes fun facts related to the season. The tradable trinkets are not themed, only the containers. We’d love to see your photos posted. Thanks for joining us on this adventure!

NOTES ON THIS PARTICULAR GEOCACHE:

+ We recommend wearing gloves to reach your hand into any geocache hiding spot because you never know what else may be hiding in there too!

+ Admittedly, many of my “riddles” are not very cryptic. Our children grew up with rhyming riddles I’d written for scavenger hunts that we did to celebrate special occasions each year. As they got older, our kids complained that the riddles were too easy. I explained that I could make the riddles rhyme or make them difficult, but I couldn’t do both. They preferred the rhymes. On a hiking trail, a lot of the same natural features are repeated, such as trees and rocks. It can be a challenge to come up with new rhymes about the same natural features. Therefore, many of the riddles are not difficult to solve because the priority was to create fun rhymes. However, we created this series with families in mind, so these riddles are perfect for children, but adults may want to forgo reading the riddle that follows, unless you need an additional hint.

SPOILER ALERT! (This riddle isn’t much of a hint; it’s actually a dead giveaway):

East of a leaning pine

Lies this home of mine.

I’m hiding beneath a boulder

As a neighboring stump grows older.
