Description EN

You will need to visit TWO LOCATIONS related to this song and post a picture of yourself & GPS for each one, in order to log this cache.  Please post picutes that feature clearly identifiable views or signage.  The posted coordinates will take you to the church and the additional waypoint is for the former location of the restaurant, itself, about 6 miles away.

I was introduced to Alices's Restaurant in high school when the local "alternative" station, WHFS, used to play it each year on Thanksgiving.  My friend, Tony, used to (and may still) be able to recite the entire 18 1/2 minutes from memory, with all the correct inflections and nuances.

Often simply referred to as Alice's Restaurant, the song was released in 1967 and is (loosely?) based around events that happened to singer / songwriter, Arlo Guthrie, on Thanksgiving Day 1965.  In addition to being based on his own experiences, it is also a satirical account of the sixties counter culture.

Partial lyrics:

This song is called Alice's Restaurant, and it's about Alice, and the
restaurant, but Alice's Restaurant is not the name of the restaurant,
that's just the name of the song, and that's why I called the song Alice's

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant
Walk right in it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant

Now it all started two Thanksgivings ago, was on - two years ago on
Thanksgiving, when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the
restaurant, but Alice doesn't live in the restaurant, she lives in the
church nearby the restaurant, in the bell-tower, with her husband Ray and
Fasha the dog.

Full lyrics can be found at the official Arlo Guthrie website.
