Straightforward cache in a very historical Mount Gilead spot near
the old "Church of Morven" (long since gone) and the Old
Presbyterian Cemetery. Park at Public Parking ONLY and take an easy
walk to the cache area.
The cache is dedicated to Lodwick Hardenbrook, a Private in the
Revolutionary War in Colonel Abraham Quick's Regiment, Somerset
County, NJ. He fought in the battles of Germantown and Monmouth.
After the war, Hardenbrook purchased land from the U.S. Government
in the wilderness of central Ohio, and became the land owner of
what is now all of Mount Gilead, Ohio.
Be sure to visit Lodwick Hardenbrook's very nondescript grave at
N40 32.763 W082 49.692 and if the flag I placed there is not
standing straight, please fix it.
Please park ONLY at the green Public Parking signs, or you will
make this a very difficult find! It is a short walk from the
parking spot: N 40° 32.840 W 082° 49.704 (Marion Street near Main)
Ohio Cemetery Laws apply -- dawn to dusk only. The cache is not
near the grave markers. Although it is well screened from local
residents, please beware of muggles!
