Site 32 - B&O Railroad Station

From the CLWT brochure - Charles Carroll of Carrolllton, signer of the Declaration of Independence, initiated construction of the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad in 1829.  A stretch was laid through Laurel in 1835.  In 1884, the Queen Anne style station, designed by well-known archictect Francis Baldwin, was built.  It has been in continuous use ever since.

At the listed coordinates, you will find an historic marker that reads:

Built by The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1884, this "American Queen Anne" structure continues in daily use. The architect, Francis H. Baldwin, also designed the rear wing of the State House in Annapolis.

The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
