This one is gone.  Since an Eagle Scout made a trail to this tree, its not such a secret place anymore.  That lead to the cache disappearing.  Since the goal of this one was to bring people to this cool, "off the beaten path" tree, it has clearly run its course.  Thanks to all who have visited.

Logging at behest of the owner.  This is the first OC.US cache we found and we did so without using a GPS - it just looked like an interesting location for a cache.

A and I were caching in this excellent park--and found this cache by accident since we were geocaching groundspeak caches and did not know that this cache existed. But we found it nevertheless. It is in an excellent location and we enjoyed finding it very much. Laughing

3406.  Ahh...so that's what that means!  Looked up the name before heading in and it did help take me zoom in on the right spot.

Cache was in great shape and well hidden.  I took nothing (not sure there was anything) and left my wooden nickel.

My 5th OCNA cache of the day.  Thanks and Happy Trails!

Thank you for picking this spot for the hide.

Didn't have the coords with me last time I was in the area hunting down some caches.  However, I was close by today so couldn't pass up the opportunity.  Cache is in great shape with no issues.  TFTC!!!

We are in this area on a mini vacation at Niagara Falls. Of course with vacation comes caching. This was the eighth of nine OCUS caches today in the area. Wow Surprised the first find in almost 10 months. It was obvious that this hadn't been found in quite some time, as it hidden better by 10 months of fallen material. Oops confused logs. TNLN TFTC

The boys and I found this one with no problem today, beautiful day for a walk through the woods.  TFTC  :-)

Woopie, I found my first Opencache!! Dragged previous find Rayman along, while I found this and "Nature Preserve Anew" on the other website. He didn't mind the trip though, as he got to check in on Foursquare, where he became Mayor of the park, and we saw a blond hottie on the trails on the way out. I walked right up to the hiding spot, as I've sort of been here before, and found it no problem. Someone whose username I've never heard of was there about 2 hours before us today also. TNLN, TFTC.

After whiling away the morning, Chicky and I finally decided that a jaunt up north to see what the OC hub-bub was all about. We didn’t know what to expect (these new fads always leave you guessing), but as we rolled up into the parking lot John Austin’s Nature Park we knew we’d be enjoying our first up north OC endeavor mightily.

So out into the wilderness we traveled, and rather enjoyed scoping out the local flora as we hiked out way towards ground zero. After a quick detour we had the impressive Quercus in our sights. We meandered up to this golden oldie and spent a few minutes drooling at it’s impressive size. Of course we didn’t lose complete track of the cache that was to be found, and after a quick inspection this one was in our mitts. But than, we had to go back to drooling over this tree. We took a bunch of pictures, and even checked out a few massive acorns we discovered. More fun times were found by checking out all the rocks in the area, and reminded us of our travels down into PA.

All in all, this was pretty neato spot - and we’re glad and thankful that Borst and his OC antics were able to introduce us to this exceptional section of trail. We would very much like to return here, as we have no doubt there is much more to explore. It’s great being able to explore new spots - and so far OC has done it’s work well!

Thanks Borst for this hide, and for giving me the chance to hug a dandy tree!

Thanks to all who have stopped by so far.  The old, archived cache is gone.  The container was damaged and leaking badly.  The post-archive logs were a wad of soaked paper.  The "new" OC cache is in the same place so it's a replacement.  Since the old one cannot be brought back due to proximity issues with other GC caches I thought it was best to "Trash Out" the old one.  Hope this clears it up.

The allure of this new cache brought be back to the Lockport area for a half day of caching. Unfortunately for me, I never got back up here to "find" the archived abandoned cache here. As usual, I headed into the woods a little early and bushwhacked a little bit further than I needed to. Then I saw the quercus humongous from about 200' away. Hard to miss that! Soon after I had the cache in hand. Then I wasn't sure about the status of the old hide here. I kind of got the impression it was elsewhere nearby despite yours having the same coordinates. So I poked around for a few minutes before reading some past logs on the phone and coming to the realization it was no longer here. That's OK though, I didn't need another smiley. Good hide, TFTC!

I had a pretty good idea where this cache was going to be before I even left the house. Yep, there she is. It was a bit breezy today, and every gust of wind brought down a little hailstorm of acorns all around me as I was signing the log. Thanks!

Oh Be Joyful! My first OCUS cache. What a cool park to hike in. I got torn up by a lot of thorns looking for 2 other caches hidden by a girl that must be a sadist! This one was a very nice hide. Spot on coordinates that led me right to a "treemendous" site. I found his twin wile walking to another cache near by. Thanks for bring me here today. Smile

I love the way open caching announce to you personally that there is a new cache in the area.  As long as they are going to give me a personal invite who am I to say no?

Of course a trip to the north side of Lockport was scheduled when the new notification was received.  I've been here before but never to this particular spot which I found to be quite impressive.  The cache was in hand a short time after arrival and after spending a few minutes admiring Mr. Quercus I headed back out to the trail for a chilly ride home.

#2 find on the Opencaching site.  Thanks for placing it.
