Wow, the first finder neglected to bash OpenCaching.Took a random afternoon off of work, and stopped by. No pic's, as I had to double park, but I paid my respects with a longer visit to a I see now archived Geocahing.com micro a few years ago. I actually read somewhere that the population of Ireland is still less than it was at the beginning of the famine over 150 years ago! Got the password, thanks for creating the cache!

I was out for an early Easter morning walk at the Outer Harbor when I received word of this new open cache nearby.  Of course I had to make the stop.

The rebellion was put down rather quickly by the battle ready British troops. In the aftermath over 3000 men and almost 80 women were arrested. Most were soon released but 90 were tried and sentenced to death. Between 3 and 12 may 1916 15 were excited including all 7 who signed the Republic Proclamation. The the swift excitations of the of the leaders sparked more armed and political upheaval leading to the Anglo-Irish  treaty with England to form the Irish Free Sate December 6 1921 Although still a Dominion of the British Empire.
The irish Civil War was yet to come between factions of the pro treaty and total a break from England. Today Ireland is an Island of 32 Counties.  26 are in The Republic of Ireland 6 are in Northern Ireland which remains a Provence of The United Kingdom.
