I'm so, SO sorry for taking so long to log this cache. Once I found out about Open Caching and this cache in particular, once the weather warmed up and the roads were clear I headed out. Although the centre was closed (alas no mine visit this trip) I was taken back to when it was very first being developed. I lived on the other side of the hill where there is still the remnants of the road leading up to the Big Nickel. At the time there was no road/overpass to access. It was all just rock.
So much has changed. When it first opened there was just a wooden shack/gift shop and the nickel. Although I drive by here many times a week as I live in Copper Cliff I always see it as it was then as it is........technology and innovation.
Thanks for creating this Virtual for me to visit and "remember when". Much appreciated.
