I'm road-tripping to Geowoodstock and over-nighted in Carlisle with the plan to visit Gettysburg at first light. Well, I was too late for sunrise but the roads were thankfully still empty when I arrived to find a completely empty parking lot. As it would do all day, it was drizzling off and on so virtuals and non-physical cachers were what I was looking for and gathering the information and enjoying the sights and sobering monuments along the way was a great way to start an extended Memorial Day weekend. My father used to bring my brother and I to Gettysburg and those memories made me something of a history buff. The memories came flooding back as I took the scenic way between caches. I believe we this tower in our wanderings at some point. Nice that this location has a TC, OC and GC. After climbing up the 121 steps, I noticed another car in the lot and heard tell-tale footfalls on the metal steps. Turned out to be a local getting her steps/stairs in for a morning workout. And people say Geocachers are weird.

FTF!
Immediately, after making my 500th TerraCaching / 1000th alt-cache find, I was able start on my next 1000.
Drove up to Gettysburg to make that special milestone and was glad to realize that there was a distinct OCNA virtual for the tower, as well.
Felt good to get out and take a nice long drive to find some caches. This was the farthest I'd gone from home, other than for work since at least March 15 when Maryland started its lock down.
Was disappointed that I couldn't make the climb for the great view, but glad that wasn't a requirement for either cache.
