This was a pretty challenging cache to find, primarily because the road in was locked about 2 miles from the cache spot. So, I had to hike in, and made a lot of short sidetrips along the way trying to find the most direct route. I had to scramble down alder-choked roadways, across a HUGE, rocky washout (on the wrong road, no less!), and down muddy slopes made slick as Teflon by the recent rains and the clay in the soil! In other words, it was a kick in the pants! When I got to the cache, I found that someone had already found it by accident on July 29, 2000, and had left his mark in the log. I felt badly taking the cap or the coupon for the free ammo and leaving the only item I had on me (a tiny Micro Machines car), so I took and left nothing. A note on snow: there were still some isolated patches on the road driving in, but they posed no obstacle (even to my fiancee's off-road-challenged Ford Thunderbird) and will be completely gone in a week or so.
