Headed south of the border again this weekend (well, actually a lot more east and just a bit south) but this time it was adults only, no kids (first time in 8 years that we've been able to say that). We traveled to the Finger Lakes area to enjoy a romantic anniversary weekend - by romantic, I mean stopping to find caches, garage sales, thrift shops, driving secondary highways, stuff like that.

This is a really nice interpretively center, looks like they run some great educational programs from here. It was pretty quite when we visited, one staff member and a child and grandmother visiting. Too bad we didn't have our kids with us, they would have enjoyed this place (we found ourselves saying that a bunch this weekend). But I was surprised to find no information here at all about the poor house / asylum. we signed the logbook and bought some honey. At the border, they always ask if we are bring in any tobacco or alcohol and occasionally ask about fruits and vegetables. but they never ask if we have any honey?

In the end, we found 6 OCNA caches (and dnf'd two), also visited the oldest geocache in the state and picked up two other gc.com caches plus a few qualifiers for some TerraCaching locationless caches. A good weekend all around. Thanks Sabrefan7 for supplying 5 of the 6 OCNA caches that we found this weekend.

Wow, the interpretive center is pretty cool! I guess I wasn't expecting it to be lame or anything, but I'll put it down for better than expected. Great job, Genesee County! I saw no workers in there the whole time, but maybe they were busy. Picked up the valuable trail map while there. Thanks for creating this cache!

Stopped by the park today on my way to Canandaigua for a concert and also to help the cause for OCUS to get 2000 finds before next weekend. A couple had just left the center, so I was the only one in there the entire time I was there. The volunteer was extremely friendly by welcoming me back to the park and told me about all the displays and that I should sign the guestbook. I mentioned geocaching but I got the impression he didn't know what it was, or just didn't hear me. So I signed in and looked around a bit. I was fascinated by the giant honeycomb and watched the bees work for quite awhile. That was the second time I've seen an indoor honeycomb like that, the other being even bigger at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in D.C. So I felt a little awkward taking a picture of the guest book since the guy didn't know about geocaching, but I managed to get what I needed as his back was towards me right before I left. TFTC, I think my first guestbook cache!

Had a good chat with the volunteer lady at the interpritive center. I was impressed with the Interpritive Center and with the park in general. TFTC.

2765. FTF? Cool, but a shame. Enjoyed the center. Spoke to one of the workers for a bit and let her know that JuniorNimrod and I were up from Maryland and caching the area.
