What a cool memorial!!!

We attended the nearby Darke County Fair today and took the opportunity to drive across the OH-IN border to visit this charming town, and this monument was our first stop there.  The amount of detail on the memorial is simply awesome.  We were a little disappointed that the bronze statue was missing from the top of the column.  A little research revealed that the monument has recently been undergoing repairs, and the statue was removed and sent to Detroit for some restoration work.  Even without the topper, this work of art is still impressive.

Thanks for giving us a reason to visit!
