Just to the south of this location is a driveway who's approach is protected by a pair of stone gargoyles.
Legend has it that St. Romanus Saved Rouen from a monstrous fire breathing dragon named Gargouille. The creature's corpse was brought back to the city and burned. Only the head and neck, having been impervious to the fires of the creatures own breath, would not burn. In the end it was hung from the top of the church wall and thus began the use of gargoyles to ward off evil.
