Charlotte has a great deal of free public art to offer, and the posted
coordinates will bring you to another favorite. Titled "The Writer's
Desk", the sculpture was commissioned as a tribute to Rolfe Neill, the
longtime Chairman and Publisher of the Charlotte Observer. The piece
was placed in 2005 on the plaza of ImaginOn, which is part public
library, part theater and part learning institution. This sculpture is
one of the few that visitors are encouraged to climb on, as it includes
seats that resemble typewriter keys and benches that resemble pencils.
