A virtual cache highlighting one of Long Beach Island, NJ's best known locactions...Barnegat Lighthouse.
The coordinates will take you to the lighthouse. The cache is located at the top, so you will have to climb to the top of "Old Barney". Yes...climb all 217 steps on the narrow, metal, spiral staircase. From the top, enjoy the 360 degree view from one of the northen-most points on the island.
To log the cache, you will need to find the log password and post a photo from the top of the lighthouse. The password is the name of the ship that brought the 1024 glass prisms and brass mountings to New York for the lighthouse's Fresnel Lens. The password is 5 letters and can be found on the descriptive placards inside the top floor of the lighthouse. (Enter this as all caps)
Your photo can be from the outer catwalk...or if the height or weather is too much for you, taken from inside the tower. Feel free to add any comments that you want such as weather, the view that day, or how long you stayed at the top recovering from the climb.
