Description EN

Over the last few years, Howard County has been working to "improve" the appearance of the Route One corridor.  Part of their plan has included adding more sidewalks, but in some areas, it hasn't been practical for them to be continuous, resulting in sidewalks to nowhere.

This has brought to mind Shel Silverstein’s poem, “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.  Of course, I’ve also thought that this might make for a good series of relatively easy caches.  Parking may not always be available immediately near GZ, but that will be part of the challenge.

This is the second cache in this series.

At the posted coords, you will find a six digit number on telephone pole (ABCDEF).

The cache is located at N 39 09.BGD W 76 47.CHJ

G = D - F

H = A x B

J = C - A

I do not reccomend parking on US Route One, right near GZ. Even though there aren't any "No Parking" signs, the area just north of the cache is a turn lane. Wherever you park, be careful out there and DO NOT plan on walking across Route One.  You may be able to park in one of the non-reserved spots in the Brentwood Manor community.  If you decide to park there be sure to obey all posted restrictions.

Where the Sidewalk Ends
by Shel Siverstein

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

Where the Sidewalk Ends

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
