Description EN

"Two sites connected by a scenic nature trail each tell their own unique story. Take in the monument honoring Texas victims of the 'Black Bean Incident,' and visit the ruins of one of the state’s first commercial breweries. Not to be outdone, the trail view of the winding Colorado River is itself a monument to the beauty of Texas." - TPWD

We found this spot while completing caches in the 2011 Texas Parks Geocache Challenge. I have approval from Park staff to publish this cache.

Please sign the guest book in the little kiosk out back of the main office/gift shop on the way to the tomb. To log this, please use the date the shelter was erected. Please DO NOT post photos of the plaque.

Schedule:

Open 7 days a week year-round from 8 am to 5 pm. Closed on Christmas Day.

I love this park! So full of history and beauty. I've been here once before and signed this guest book but I didn't know about Opencaching back then. I signed with my geocaching name this time! Picnicked here with my mom before continuing on our way south.
