After whiling away the morning, Chicky and I finally decided that a jaunt up north to see what the OC hub-bub was all about. We didn’t know what to expect (these new fads always leave you guessing), but as we rolled up into the parking lot John Austin’s Nature Park we knew we’d be enjoying our first up north OC endeavor mightily.

So out into the wilderness we traveled, and rather enjoyed scoping out the local flora as we hiked out way towards ground zero. After a quick detour we had the impressive Quercus in our sights. We meandered up to this golden oldie and spent a few minutes drooling at it’s impressive size. Of course we didn’t lose complete track of the cache that was to be found, and after a quick inspection this one was in our mitts. But than, we had to go back to drooling over this tree. We took a bunch of pictures, and even checked out a few massive acorns we discovered. More fun times were found by checking out all the rocks in the area, and reminded us of our travels down into PA.

All in all, this was pretty neato spot - and we’re glad and thankful that Borst and his OC antics were able to introduce us to this exceptional section of trail. We would very much like to return here, as we have no doubt there is much more to explore. It’s great being able to explore new spots - and so far OC has done it’s work well!

Thanks Borst for this hide, and for giving me the chance to hug a dandy tree!
