Description EN

Welcome to one of Spokane's most beloved and photographed landmarks, the world's largest Radio Flyer wagon, affectionately known as the Big Red Wagon or The Childhood Express!

This massive interactive sculpture sits proudly in the heart of Riverfront Park, right in downtown Spokane. Commissioned by the Junior League of Spokane for the 1989 Centennial Celebration of Children, local artist Ken Spiering designed this 26-ton behemoth out of steel and reinforced concrete. It stands 12 feet tall, measures 27 feet long and 12 feet wide, and is engineered to safely hold up to 300 people (yes, really 100 lbs per square foot!).

The giant white handle doubles as a thrilling slide, and kids (and plenty of big kids!) love climbing into the padded bed for photos, playtime, or just to relive the simple joy of pulling a classic red wagon.

To claim your find:

Take a photo of yourself (or a personal item) with the Big Red Wagon clearly visible in the background. Bonus points if you're sliding down the handle or sitting in the wagon bed!

This is a great stop while exploring Riverfront Park's many attractions such as the Looff Carousel, Spokane Falls, Garbage Goat, and more. Parking is available nearby (some paid lots/meters), and the park is very walkable.
