This event turned out pretty darn good! We had 10 attendees. I was hoping for 15 or more, but this was a fine little gathering. I want to personally think each and every person that attended. Most notably those that came a sizeable distance, Sabrefan7 and Borst. Great to see you guys. Gadget too, who comes from a distance, although she hitched a ride in MickEMT's awesome new Dodge whatever it's called SUV, which myself, Gof, and Rayman got a personal tour of. I'm really trying to keep the Opencaching name out there, and pestered about 15 people via email before the event. And of course I have to thank Gof, for placing the amazing number of 26 Bit caches in WNY, and publishing them the day before the event. He did not plan to do this, they were placed over a period of several weeks. I just happened to be talking to him via email (most likely pestering him to attend the event), and we coordinated the timely publishing. Thanks again to him.

So I got a little tipsier than I wanted to, but sitll not fall down drunk. Nothing too crazy, as I like to say. That is because I was forced to stop at 2 different bars for a beer on the way there. Here's my story, and I'm sticking to it. I forced Mrs. Yuck to drop me off at the UB Subway station. I only bought a one-way ticket, knowing I could probably force fellow Tonawandan Rayman to give me a ride home, even though I gave him no advance notice.

As many attendees might know, I've been a weekend only paperboy for 5 years with my kids. We currently have a triple sized route, that's a lot of papers. We go out for about 3 hours on Saturday, and I drink lots of water and Powerade! So I'm on the 15 minute subway ride, and my back teeth are floating. I need to go bad. In case you never noticed, there are no restrooms at the subway stations!! But I got off at Main and Allen, and I know there are several bars and restaurants on Allen. So I go to the first one. Turns out it's a well-known Gay bar in the Buffalo community, Cathode Ray!! If you don't believe me, here is my Foursquare check-in, and I received 4 extra points for "my first Gay Bar". Foursquare Check-in So they look at me funny of course, and the bartender seems quite annoyed I'm looking for the bathroom. I tell him, no problem, I'll buy a drink! So I sat there for about 10 minutes having a bottle of bud. There are 5 or 6 TV's, but check this out; instead of having sports on, all TV's were tuned to the Food Network. How funny is that?

So next stop on my tour is The Church of Scientology 2 blocks down. Why? There is a Terracaching Locationless cache, "She blinded me with Scien-tology". Take your pic in front of a church of Scientology, funny stuff. Been wanting to do that for years, and never knew where the Buffalo Freak house, oops I mean church, was. But I noticed it on the map a few days out, and made stopping by a priority. I now have a funny inclination towards jumping on Oprah's couch.

So then I look for 3 Gof Bit Caches. The first one, St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, seems to be missing! I find the Munzee, also by Gof, in about a minute, but no Bit Cache. I then go to 2 other Gof Bit Caches, The Cyclorama, and Evil Spirts, and find them easily. So I'm close, and knowing his hiding style now, I go back to the Church. Still nothing. Of course it was established at the event it was indeed missing.

Well, I had the GPS on, and it was only 800 feet down Franklin to Fat Bob's from the Evil Spirts Bit. I had figured it was much further than that, just from looking at the maps and planning my excursion. But I have another stop to make first, I had submitted a Bit Cache of my own the day before, and it was already approved. All I had to do was physically drop it, and activate it. This is the Legion Post No. 665/Hamlin House Restaurant Bit cache, which is only 300 feet from the front door of Fat Bob's. So I place it, and of course I have to go into the Legion to have another beer. I mean who could resist that? So I drank that, and got to Fat Bob's at 6:40 in plenty of time to be the first one there, and make final plans with the bar tender.

Oh, and during the event, a girl in 5 inch spiked heels and a Coors Lite T-Shirt forced me to play air hockey on an Iphone against Rayman. I lost, but still got a landyard bottle opener, as opposed to a nice T-Shirt for the winner. What Rayman didn't know is I have air hockey on my phone, and play it occasionally. Not often enough, apparently.
